As the seasons change, I often find myself looking at my knitting and my shop with fresh eyes. This time of year feels like the perfect opportunity to try new things, revisit old projects, and find inspiration in unexpected places.

Fresh Starts

There is something about the change of seasons that always feels like a fresh start to me.

As the world around us changes, I find myself looking at my knitting, my store, and even my daily routines with fresh eyes. Each season brings new possibilities, new inspiration, and a chance to renew things that may have become a little stale.

This season, I've been focusing on bringing in some new yarns to the shop. I love finding beautiful fibers and colors that inspire creativity and spark new project ideas. One of the newest additions is Hummingbird Yarns, and I am currently knitting a cowl sample using two different Hummingbird colorways. Watching the colors work together stitch by stitch has been a lot of fun, and it's reminding me how much I enjoy experimenting with color combinations. Once the sample is finished, I'll be putting together kits so others can enjoy the project as well.

At the same time, I've been taking a good look at my WIPs (works in progress). Every knitter knows the collection of projects that quietly grows over time. Some are still exciting and calling my name, while others have lost their spark. As I sort through them, I'm deciding which projects deserve more knitting time and which ones may be headed to the pond for a good frogging. Sometimes letting go of a project creates space for something new and exciting.

I'm also looking at the kits already in the shop and asking myself how they can be refreshed. Could they use a new color combination? A different yarn option? A fresh sample? Sometimes a small change can breathe new life into a familiar project.

What I love most about this mindset is that it feels less like starting over and more like problem-solving. It's about looking at things from a different perspective, finding new possibilities, and making improvements where they're needed. Instead of focusing on what isn't working, I get excited about what could be.

There is something incredibly positive and uplifting about that process. It brings new energy and creativity into my days. Nature is constantly renewing itself, growing, changing, and adapting with each season. Why shouldn't we do the same?

So as we settle into a new season, I'm embracing fresh starts—whether that means casting on a new project, frogging an old one, discovering a new yarn, or simply looking at things through a different lens.

After all, every stitch is an opportunity to begin again.
